Featuring vacancies
A featured vacancy gets a fixed slot in search results and on vacancy pages, but only where it fits the content. This page explains where that slot sits, how the algorithm chooses and what we measure.
Where the featured slot sits
In search results
After the first 3 results, with the Featured label and a line explaining why this vacancy is here. We do not sell position one: the first hits belong to the searcher.
On a vacancy page
Right below the summary of the vacancy someone is reading. On an expired vacancy at the top, before the alternatives.
At the top of the list
A fixed placement puts one vacancy above the organic results, only for searches and filters it fits. Partners use this for 30 days per vacancy.
How the algorithm chooses
For every page the algorithm looks at what the visitor is reading: the occupation, the place and the title. It then searches your campaign’s vacancies for the strongest match, top to bottom. The first rung that yields something wins.
-
Same occupation, same place
The strongest match there is.
-
Same occupation, within 35 km
The place differs, the work does not.
-
Same place, the title shares a key word
For vacancies without an occupation classification.
-
Related occupation, within 35 km
From the same occupation group.
-
Other work, within 35 km
Any vacancy in your campaign near the visitor.
-
Same occupation, elsewhere in the country
The work fits, the commute is longer.
-
The closest vacancy
If nothing above fits, your vacancy closest to the visitor is shown anyway.
Match strength, from strong to weak
What the algorithm never does
- A commercial preference only breaks a tie between vacancies that already fit equally well. It never lifts a weaker match over a better one.
- The vacancy someone is reading, and copies of it from other sources, never return as the featured vacancy.
- Expired vacancies are never featured.
- Occupations come from the European ESCO classification we use to classify vacancies. That is how the algorithm recognises a fitter even when the title differs.
- Switch a campaign off and it is gone from the site within a minute.

What we measure
We count every step separately, with bots and our own traffic removed. With every impression we store the reason for the match, so you can see which rung of the ladder does the work.
-
Impression
Counted once the Featured label has been at least half visible, once per page view.
-
Vacancy view
Someone opens the featured vacancy on our site.
-
Outbound click
Someone clicks through to your application page. Unique clicks are counted separately.
-
Application
Only when you report it back to us, for example through an affiliate network. We never call an outbound click an application.
Options
-

-

For agencies and employers with recurring demand: fixed visibility per month.
-
Niche sponsorship
A fixed sponsor slot on agreed pages of a specialist site.
Prices are discussed per request. Nothing goes live without a clear agreement.
