Role and responsibilities
The manager oversees accurate, timely bookkeeping and outsourced finance work across a varied client portfolio. Month-end duties include completing reconciliations, journals, accruals and prepayments, preparing trial balances, and producing management reports.
The role also involves maintaining client relationships, handling queries and identifying better ways of working. The manager coordinates with colleagues in accounts, payroll and tax to provide a joined-up service.
- Guide and review the bookkeeping team’s work, while providing training, support and regular performance feedback.
Requirements
- Previous work in bookkeeping or outsourced accounting is required; practice or professional services experience is preferred.
- Experience overseeing client portfolios and checking work completed by junior colleagues.
- Sound knowledge of bookkeeping, reconciliations, month-end activity and management accounts preparation.
- Competence with accounting systems, cloud bookkeeping platforms and Excel.
- Strong organisation, communication and client management abilities.
- A relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualification, or equivalent hands-on experience.
